Bride of Frankenstein How to Hair Do

I decided to do a spin on my favorite horror classic the Bride of Frankenstein in reverse black and white. I used my own hair which was frightening in itself. I feared the outcome but just went for it. I sponge rolled my hair the night before. It was about 2 days dirty. I began with small-ish strands and used the tiny size rollers. It's important to wet the hair either before or after rolling with a water bottle to set. The result panned out, my hair was effortless to work into electrocution. I began to tease it and placed a sponge cone (typically for flower arrangements) at the crown of my head. From there I continued to work the hair by rating, spraying hairspray and pinning my hair to the cone. I pinned two black extensions to the sides.

Take on Venus

In September my friend Shannon and I went to The Legion of Honor in San Francisco to see the Man Ray - Lee Miller exhibit. It was moving and I'm so glad we caught it in time. This years Halloween costume is influenced by Lee Miller's character in Jean Cocteau's short film Blood of a Poet which the museum also had on display. It's a take on Venus Di Milo. I constructed the arms out of tin cans, cardboard and paper mache. I also made the dress which was way more of a pain than those stumps. It was a long process but fun and worth it.

Pharaoh in Phlux

Each Halloween I make my own costume. Every year I look forward to the next and have enough costume ideas for at least 5 Halloweens out. A little overzealous I know but that's that. This year I wanted to be a decrepit Pharaoh/mummy, it was one thing in my head and another to actually create with what little time and energy I had. Instead it came out looking like something King Tut would of worn to a disco. The headdress was a small challenge but once formed, I enjoyed embellishing it. I'm taken by Egyptian art and dress, here is my homage to the gods. I've included the jewelry pieces I made out of smashed pennies collected from the Rosicrucian Museum.
